Synchronous or timing – belts operation the grip principle. Molded teeth on the belt fits in to the mating groove on the pulley with very little friction and called positive drive. Timing belt unlike other type of belt do not drive their great tension strength from their thickness instead this belts will extremely thin with teeth yet they are all “muscle” with tension member that given them inherent power to grip to pull. Thus practically maintenance free          but lasting that the teeth of the belt enter and leave the groove with negligible friction like gear drive. A timing pulley transmits force to the belt via evenly spaced groove which mate with teeth in the belt. These same grooved belt and pulley teeth prevent belt slippage. Belt teeth roll in to and out of this groove smoothly unlike V belt on wedging or friction. Timing – belt drives transmit torque to a driven pulley or force to a linear actuator. They may also convey a load placed on the belt surface.

Timing belt drive was invented and patented in year 1946. Since then virtually in field of timing belt drive, sincere efforts resulted into series of new teeth configurations in order to handle a wide range of load, speed and applications at highest possible efficiency.

Timing belt drives is in revolutionary tooth principle. Belts molded teeth engage with axial groove of simmiler tooth profile on the pulley in a smooth rolling motion. Can be utilize singly or any combination to rotate, position and manipulate various objects and it transmits or a greater power than any other type of drive.
